H25: Baker St. Pub & Grill

Saturday night I went out with some of my fraternity brothers to Baker St. (sometimes called "Sherlock's) Pub. Now, I don't hardly ever drink anymore, but I still go to Baker St. because it is still a really cool place to hang out at.

If you do like to drink, then you won't be disappointed with a visit here. They have almost any beer you can think of, including one of my favorite when I do decide to have the occasional drink, Blue Moon. Along with Blue Moon, they also have domestic beers such as Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Light, and Coors. Furthermore, they have other popular imports, such as Heineken, Corona, Dos Equis, and Foster's. Baker St. also features a variety of mixed drinks such as "Mind Erasers," "Jager Bombs," "Red Headed Sluts," and "Incredible Hulks."I would recommend going to Happy Hour at Baker St. because the prices are pretty reasonable, as shown here:

Now on the other hand, if you're like me and don't really drink that often, then you can still have a great time. They have really good food, such as chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, Shepard's pie, and my personal favorite, mini burgers with fries.

Now, let's say you've just finished eating some of the delicious food and want to play a game. They have a variety of games, such as pool, darts, "Golden Tee" and other video games.

When I went, I had the mini burgers for one and a Coke and my total was something like $11.00 not including tip.

So, here is yet another place in Houston where you can go to relax and have fun, without having to worry about paying more than $25.

Ok so I decided/ was sort of forced to switch topics so now I am doing a thing that my group is calling "H25," which is short for Houston Under Twenty-Five Dollars. Basically what we are trying to accomplish is to let fellow Houstonians and even visitors of the Houston area know what types of entertainment and activities they can enjoy for under $25.

This passed Friday, I went with some friends to the Hard Rock Cafe downtown. The Hard Rock is a really cool environment for people of any age. For anyone who hasn't been there before, let me break down the aspects of the restaurant/ bar that make it so popular and appealing...

First and foremost, there is a ridiculous amount of rock and roll memorabilia on the walls. Items such as guitars, wardrobe pieces, gold records, etc are literally everywhere. The artists range from the Beatles to Elvis to Ozzy Osbourne.

Along with the whole rock and role atmosphere, they have tvs that are constantly playing music videos and live performances of different bands from different periods. A music video that is played every time I go to Hard Rock is Blondie's "Hey Mickey You're So Fine," which is kind of corny, but still tremendously popular with the guests.

There is also a great bar selection to choose from. Now even though I don't drink anymore, I still remember from when I used to, that Hard Rock had a very good drink menu. However, I would advise you to avoid the Jager Bombs because they are not made with Jager and Red Bull like most people are used to. Instead, they are made with Jager and pineapple juice. This is just my opinion, but the last time I had one from Hard Rock it didn't taste too good.

On a positive note though, the Hard Rock does have incredible food, such as burgers, fries, salads, queadillas, and nachos. I highly recommend the nachos.

As if the great food and atmosphere aren't enough, when you leave (or when you arrive) there is a gift shop with a huge selection of Hard Rock merchandise ranging from t-shirts to drum sticks and jackets to their infamous Hard Rock guitar lapel pins.

So, if you are looking for a great place to go and you don't feel like spending over $25 you should make your way downtown to the Hard Rock Cafe, where you are sure to have a good time.
